Impressive vintage decorative model of an 18th-century Spanish frigate, presented on its original dark wooden display stand and bearing the identification plaque:
“FRAGATA ESPAÑOLA – AÑO 1780”
The model features a richly detailed wooden hull with an intentionally aged finish, three principal masts, extensive standing and running rigging, fabric sails, crow’s nests, ladders, anchors and numerous miniature deck and hull details.
The combination of dark timber, aged canvas sails and dense black rigging gives the model considerable visual presence. It works particularly well as a statement piece for a library, study, office, maritime collection, restaurant, hotel or traditionally furnished interior.
Models bearing this same Fragata Española Año 1780 designation are documented in collections and on the vintage market. The City of San Diego describes its example as a model of an 18th-century Spanish frigate, while other vintage examples have been attributed to approximately the 1970s.
